According to The Star Online, Johnny is to be honoured with the Bahamas International Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award in Nassau next week!
Mega superstar Johnny Depp, who is People magazine’s Most Sexiest Man Alive, will be honoured next week for his achievements in film.
Depp will be presented with the Bahamas International Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award in Nassau next week by non-other than the festival’s patron Sir Sean Connery.
In an interview, BIFF founder Leslie Vanderpool said, “Johnny Depp is one of the finest actors of our generation and is, simply put, an icon. What makes this tribute to Johnny even more special is that he has a home in the Bahamas and possesses a true love and appreciation for the region and the culture.”
Depp, who is in talks to play the Mexican bandit and revolutionary hero Pancho Villa in a Emir Kusturica movie entitled Seven Friends Of Pancho Villa And The Woman With Six Fingers, owns a paradise retreat in Bahamas and splits his time between his home on the island and France.

Hello everyone!
People magazine has graced Johnny with the title of Sexiest Man Alive 2009! I’ve included a little article which you can read below, as well as a preview of the November 2009 issue of the magazine.
The issue is on stands now, so be sure to get your copy! Scans will be added to the gallery once I have the magazine myself, but if you are kind enough to donate the scans instead, please don’t hesitate to send them to sheeda@jdepp.org. Thank you!
Break out the Bordeaux, the whoopee cushions and the bangin’ Keith Richards guitar solos, because the 2009 Sexiest Man Alive party is officially under way. Bringing the fun with him wherever he goes – whether it’s onscreen in fizzy roles like Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise or at home with his family on their private Bahamian island – is just one reason why Johnny Depp, who also scored the honor in 2003, has joined an elite club of two-time SMA title holders (only Brad Pitt and George Clooney have matched the feat). At 46, the father of two still reigns as Hollywood’s most irresistible iconoclast; as one-of-a-kind as his beloved 15-year-old boots and as smoldering as his favorite Cuban cigars.
Enjoy!
There might be a new upcoming project for Johnny! He is currently in talks to star alongside Angelina Jolie in The Tourist. Read on below to find out more!
Johnny Depp is in talks to star with Angelina Jolie in The Tourist, a remake of a French thriller in which Depp would play an American abroad who gets swept up in an Interpol agent’s web of intrigue as she tracks down a fugitive who used to be her lover, according to Variety.
Sam Worthington, the Australian star of James Cameron’s upcoming 3-D spectacle, Avatar, had been slated to play the titular tourist, but recently dropped out, along with director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who helmed the Oscar-winning The Lives of Others.
This isn’t The Tourist’s first casting shakeup, either. Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron were originally set to give chase in the lead roles before scheduling snafus got in the way.

Three of Hollywood’s leading men are in the frame to star in Martin Scorsese’s forthcoming Frank Sinatra biopic.
Together they have earned almost £3bn at the box office. But with only one best supporting actor Oscar between them, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp are all fighting to land the role that will surely give the victor the best chance yet of securing the critical acclaim to match their earning power.
All three A-listers are in the frame to play Frank Sinatra in Martin Scorsese’s forthcoming biopic, and each has a powerful backer. Scorsese, who won his first best director Oscar in 2006 for The Departed, wants his current muse DiCaprio to play the Rat Pack singer. The two are putting the finishing touches to Shutter Island, their fourth film together, before Scorsese turns his attention to making Sinatra next year.
Executives at Universal, the studio financing the film, are pushing for Depp to play Sinatra, after being impressed by his performance as bank robber John Dillinger in Public Enemies this year.
But Sinatra’s daughter, Tina, has her own view of how her father should be portrayed, which critics feel would be a sanitised life story. She favours Clooney, in what would be his most challenging role to date, as a safe pair of hands.

A larger-than-life snowglobe filled with murderous little girls, a “Battlestar Gallactica” spaceship and comic-book legend Stan Lee flying overhead on a bouquet of giant balloons — just a few signs that Spike TV’s “Scream 2009” is different from other awards shows.
The star-studded event, held Saturday at the Greek Theatre, honors the best in sci-fi, horror, fantasy and comic-inspired movies and TV shows.
Fans voted online for the winners, so some of the year’s most popular programs and big box-office hits took home trophies, including “Transformers,” “Twilight,” “True Blood” and “Star Trek.” Stars of those properties and other surprise guests appeared throughout the 3 1/2-hour ceremony.
And then there was Keith Richards. Fans welcomed the Rolling Stones guitarist with a standing ovation as Johnny Depp presented him with the Rock Immortal award.
“I liked the living legend, that was all right, but immortal is even better,” Richards said in an interview before accepting the honor.
